One Well Placed Round, Billions of Dollars Saved.....

Congratulations go out to the SEAL team that took out Bin Laden.  I'm sure that details will become more and more clear as time goes on, but for now it would appear certain that the FBI's#1 has been eliminated.

Initial reports indicate two well placed shots ended the reign of the most wanted man on the planet.

As a result of this action and the intelligence that lead to this action, it should be abundantly clear to all right thinking citizens that the US now has BILLIONS OF DOLLARS which can now be applied to concerns here at home.
How you ask?
Simple.

Over the past TEN YEARS the US has poured Billions into the country of Pakistan.  We have bolstered and built up their military, their government, and their intelligence.  We have just recently approved seventy five billion dollars in "civilian aid" designed primarily to bolster their economy and as a result buy the US some goodwill.
Pakistan is viewed by the US as critical and a "partner in the war on terror".

All right thinking Americans should now demand that our government immediately stop any and all aid to Pakistan.  Pakistan should be, in a logical world be added to the list of countries sympathetic to terrorists.

in the days following 9/11 it was made clear to the American people that Bin Laden would be brought to JUSTICE.  This word carries a legal connotation.  As such it is reasonable to apply legal standards.  At least the word carries a moral connotation.

That being said, the facts of the matter are as follows:

It is clear that the most wanted, most readily identifiable, most well known fugitive in the world was being harbored inside the country of Pakistan.
Harbored, not hiding.  This distinction is made clear given his proximity to Pakistan's equivalent of West Point and 40 miles from the capitol.  Clear given the fact that Bin Laden felt secure and comfortable enough to reside (not hide) in what has been described as a mansion.
Based on the description of the compound it should be clear to anyone not to mention the ISI Pakistan's intelligence agency that something worth a second look was inside.

The American government have long had to hold its nose in face of what we now see clearly as BS coming from Pakistan.  In March of this year Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari wrote "We are fighting terrorists for the soul of Pakistan and have paid a heavy price. Our desire to confront and deal with the menace in a manner that is effective in our context should not become the basis for questioning our commitment or ignoring our sacrifices."  The operative phrase of "effective in our context" is key.

The ISI, headed by Lt. Gen. Ahmad Shuja Pasha along with the Pak army has held an alliance with terrorist groups in Punjab province so that they can be used against India in the dispute over Kashmir.

These facts and the fact that intelligence developed WITHOUT the help of the Pakistani's beginning in August of last year led to last nights events, clearly indicate complicity on the part of at least factions within the Pak government.

Under US rule of law, which our government promised Bin Laden be held to, the country of Pakistan is guilty of harboring a fugitive.
Federal statute, 18 U.S.C. ยง 1071, requires proof of four elements: (1) proof that a federal warrant had been issued for the fugitive' s arrest, (2) that the accused had knowledge that a warrant had been issued, (3) that the accused actually harbored or concealed the fugitive, and (4) that the accused intended to prevent the fugitive' s discovery or arrest.

Morally it is repugnant to reward, or continue to support in any manner those who are clearly complicit.

Sure, US law does not extend beyond our borders, but neither should our good will and tax dollars given the facts of this matter.

Continuing to support the regime of Pakistan in any manner is something all that remember 9/11 and the sacrifices of our troops is nothing short of OFFENSIVE!
