The most significant firearm in American history....

Just when you thought you knew most everything there was to know about firearms and American history along come something like this.

I for one had no idea air rifles had been around that long.  48 caliber, high capacity magazine, capable of penetrating a 2X4, I wonder what the rules on this would be today?

"Peace through superior firepower" - gotta love that.........

    Awhhh;; People ???? This is a fun item. Well put together and presented. But you forgot to mention what sealent they used to "retain" the storied air pressure in the "heavy" lead stock. Also it might be a good idea to explain the use of the "hammer" on the shown airgun (airrifle?).

    I just love learning all the new ways that the past can be "bent??".

    Thank You;

    Excellent video! The commentary was well presented and thoughtfully done, it was delivered in an interesting fashion that kept my attention. So, well done!!

    This is the first time I had ever heard of such a rifle, let alone being used by Lewis and Clark. You don't think of an air rifle being capable of supplying enough firepower to be used as a defensive weapon (or offensive). I'm not aware of an air rifle now that could send a .48 caliber ball 100 yards and go through a one inch board! There would be a market today for an air rifle like that.

    Thanks again for the video and information. I look forward to additional videos like this!
