S&W IDPA Indoor Nationals
After making our way to S&W in Springfield MA through a late season snow/sleet/rain storm (fun stuff), and getting checked in to the hotel, We made our way over to the S&W Indoor range and retail shop for one of the premier events in the IDPA circuit.
With a field reading like a whos who of all things that go bang, this event was as billed.
Although not a died in the whole IDPA shooter, I think any trigger time is good trigger time and if I could have seen my way clear last season to get classified, I certainly would have take the opportunity to shoot.
TDS and 1776 teamed up to sponsor the event this year and Nathan Findley, the man behind the 1776 Second Amendment Rangebackpack made is way up from Kansas.
Charles Waterman who sports TDS logos on his jersey also sported something new on his jersey and in his holster - Colt. Graced with an experimental serialized single stack 1911 in 38Super from the biggest name in 1911's is nice no matter who you are.
The match concluded with one of the best banquets most of us had ever attended - if only doggy bag had been an option.
Mrs Wilson made a couple of announcements. One regarding power factor for SSR, dropping the PF to 105 and the other signaling the creation and induction of well know folks into the IDPA's new classification - Distinguished Grand Master.
Honestly although I was sitting right there I can only remember a couple of the new Grand Masters so hopefully the ones I cant recall wont hold it against me.
Bob Vogel
Dave Sevigney
Jerry Miculek
Todd Jarrett
So this puts to rest the long standing discussion regarding the IDPA and Grandmaster classifications.
Im sure that soon qualifications and a proper listing of GM's will be available.
