MPA22

Spent a few minutes talking to Phil Cashin the head honcho of MasterPiece Arms.  I'd done some experimenting with the 22LR version of the MAC and figured I'd follow up the phone calls with an actual meet and greet.

MPA is a cool company if you a fan of the MAC like I am.  Not much says over abundant firepower like the MAC and their 22 version is about nothing short of cool.
Id brought one in to play with and specifically to run a suppressor on it.  When I unscrewed the faux can I was almost depressed to see that although the barrel is threaded there is about 3 inches of barrel beyond the threads.  I made a couple calls and ended up with Phil, who spent a year making tweaks to get a 22 to run in the platform.

With the assurances that if it didnt work he'd send me a new barrel, I set about cutting it just in front of the threading.

Before

After

And yes it locks back on the last shot

The results were a huge grin!  The little girl runs nice.  With suppressor and without there hasn't been a single stumble.  According to the information in the manual, subsonic isnt recommended but I've fed everything from MiniMag's to CCI Subsonics without a hitch.

In talking to Phil he explained the development of this gun.  When we got to the mag, turns out these are Black Dog in origin with custom tuning done to each one by MPA to ensure function - nice touch.

Were going to do some more testing and if all goes well TDS will be able to offer a FACTORY cut and therefore warranted MPA22 in the very near future.  I dont recommend buying one and chopping the barrel as MPA probably wont warentee it - I wouldn't.

If your looking for a fun and surprisingly accurate 22 shooter that you can supress, let me know and Ill let you know when we get them in.

Also available and revealed at SHOT from MPA
