Been a while....
Its been a while since I sat to write what fits best into the "Rants and Raves" category, and frankly its well overdue.
Yeah its the holiday season and everyone is filled with the joys of the season and good will towards man or so "they" would have us all believe.
Everytime I hear "they", I remember Willy Nelson giving an interview and responding to the "they say...." question with "Who is this they? If I could have found they I'd have kicked their asses years ago."
I made the mistake of running up to the local outlet cluster to pick up something I couldn't wait to have shipped in. The carolers were out in force as were the rudest, most arrogant, desperately needing a lead infusion folks Ive ever had the displeasure of mingling with. And that was just in the parking lot.
I know full well that the world has seemingly taken a massive dump. I know everyone's scared about jobs, money, whats coming next, hell were probably closer to a zombie invasion than at any time in my lifetime. I get it, I'm right there with you - but fear and loathing does not give license to pure unadulterated DUMB ASS behavior!
Tell me I'm wrong?!
I know if I spent the time to regurgitate, I'd get emails from every state and city "seeing my stories and raising me" so to save time I figure I'd just pose one simple rhetorical question (rhetorical means no answer is needed) - what ever happened to "growing a pair"?
When I was a kid and some numbnut acted "a fool", someone would call them on it. Now its a rarity. We've all got cell phones, most of us have "behavior modification devices" strapped, stuffed, and secured to our person and yet not one single person steps up.
Old ladies on their way to church are tossed to the pavement for their purses all under the watchful eyes of the security guard across the street.
A parking lot full of people watch in "shock and horror" as elderly women shoppers are accosted returning to their cars. And of course this in daylight and the list goes on.
Am I advocating a free fire zone in the local mall parking lot? Nah, just growing a pair. Maybe a nationwide week or month of "Doing Whats Right". Hell easier yet, maybe as a group we could all just start exercising not only our rights but our values.
Next time you find yourself shaking your head in disbelief at what your seeing, take the moment to realize that if you do nothing and were indeed capable of doing something, then it is YOU that is equally responsible for it.
In my opinion, its time as a nation to grow a pair and step up for our values. If we don't we'll sit for anything and have no right to bitch.
Oh yeah, before I forget - enjoy the season of joy and good will.............
